In times of crisis, we often turn to technology—our first instinct is to call someone, whether it be family or first responders. Join us for a conversation about the role network connectivity plays in keeping the lines of communication open and reliable when disaster strikes, and how 5G is becoming pivotal for emergency response communication.

Cynthia Slowik is an Innovation Manager for the 5G Lab in NYC. She’s responsible for live virtual event programming, innovation workshops, and supporting co-creation initiatives across the NYC and Verizon innovation ecosystem. Most recently she executed an event series partnership with WXR to highlight relevant XR topics in a variety of virtual platforms. Notable work achievements from producing NYCxDESIGN, New York City’s official Design ‘Week’ and an active mentor for several highly-regarded tech accelerators such as Barclay's Accelerator, powered by Techstars and hardware tech Futureworks incubator programs.

Currently I lead a team of 15 Network Field Engineers in the Alameda, Contra Costa, San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara Counties with implementing, integrating and optimizing our Verizon wireless network in the field. We ARE the last line of defense, the boots on the ground, THE Verizon Network.

On top of that, to support our First Responders I am Incident Commander for events in Northern California/NV helping to coordinate responses in the field from Power Shutoffs to Fires.

Interested in Technology? I started the Drone program in Network Operations that has moved nationwide utilizing field engineers to help keep our network running.

I have over twenty-five years of proven and awarded experience in technical training, systems engineering, product development, program management, and people management. Specialties include: communication skills, customer support, personnel development, meeting facilitation, network engineering, project management, radio frequency applications, software testing, supervisory skills, technical support, technical training, and technical writing.

An experienced Technical Leader with both People and Products. Always ready for that next challenge!

Blaze Vincent is a Sr. Manager at the Ericsson CTO office focusing on 5G ecosystem and business development, where he drives incubation, development and commercialization of complex end-to-end 5G solutions for CSPs, enterprises and public sector organizations. His expertise includes 5G, Internet of Things (IoT), Cloud, Enterprise networks, mission critical network solutions and distributed computing architecture. Blaze has an MS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Colorado at Boulder.
